Shawn Lim is the Founder and Creative Director of Shawn Studioss, Malaysia’s premier luxury wedding and event production company.
For over a decade, Shawn has been a defining force in the Malaysian Indian wedding industry, transforming how weddings are planned, captured, and experienced. What began as a singular passion for photography has evolved under his leadership into a full-scale production ecosystem—integrating cinematic videography, grand event décor, premium catering, and logistical management under one roof.

THE ORIGIN STORY: FROM LENS TO LEGACY
2015: The Beginning
The journey began in 2015 in Johor Bahru, where Shawn established a boutique studio focused on fashion and portrait photography. Unlike traditional studios, Shawn brought a distinct artistic flair to his work, quickly gaining a reputation for his eye for detail and lighting.
2016–2017: Identifying the Gap
As he transitioned into the Indian wedding photography sector in 2016, Shawn noticed a critical gap in the market. Couples were struggling to coordinate between disconnected vendors—photographers, decorators, and caterers—often resulting in disjointed themes and unnecessary stress.
Shawn envisioned a better way. In 2017, he expanded the brand to include cinematic wedding videography, bringing a movie-like quality to real-life love stories. His team began covering weddings not just in Malaysia, but across Singapore and India, setting the stage for international recognition.
BUILDING THE ECOSYSTEM: A ONE-STOP REVOLUTION
Shawn’s ambition went beyond capturing moments; he wanted to create them. He realized that to guarantee the highest quality for his clients, he needed to control every aspect of the event environment.
2018: The Culinary & Aesthetic Expansion
In a bold strategic move, Shawn launched Shawn’s Kitchen, an in-house catering division specializing in authentic Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian banquets. Simultaneously, he established an in-house event décor production team.
This expansion meant that Shawn Studioss was no longer just a service provider; it was a comprehensive solution. By manufacturing custom props and managing their own kitchens, Shawn ensured that the aesthetic quality of the décor matched the visual quality of the photography—a level of synergy rare in the industry.
2020: The Complete Production House
By 2020, under Shawn’s directorship, the company had evolved into a full-service Event Management Powerhouse. Today, the brand manages everything from music production and luxury car rentals to custom canopy setups and logistics.
